A final option you may want to consider is to look at a house sharing program. There are some organizations that will help single parents find other similar single parents find a home to share. Sharing a home with another single parent allows you to save a significant amount of money. You also end up with another roommate who is experiencing the same problems that you are and can function as peer support.

Single parent housing is out there for you – it’s really just a matter of exploring all the options. There are certainly more options than are listed on this list. If you want more options, your best bet is to start looking on the web for housing solutions for low income families.
